I do not have an education degree, nor am I a linguist, so some of the terminology here is pretty dense (and the papers start off a bit on the boring side). The papers and articles collected in this book do, however, offer insights that are fascinating to contemplate. As a teacher and as a writer--and as a person who works with English as a Foreign Language students sometimes--once I get past the sociolo-linguistic and pedagogical materials I think this book is useful. Well, some of it...not Chapter 3. Chapter 2 was amazing, though. Learning to Read Across Languages: Cross-Linguistic Relationships in First and Second-Language Literacy Development by Keiko Koda
